The first night, Friday, we drove around for almost an hour trying to find a campsite that was open near the trailhead. We finally found one (at the last campground) at Little Roaring Lake...almost 2 miles from the trailhead. It was quiet and we were glad to sleep. This is just before we set off Saturday morning. We had to park at a trailhead 1 mile from the one we wanted because of parking (too many anglers on the lake at our trailhead) Soon after this picture as we were walking down Primitive Road 128 (I think) The camp hosts came by in their truck and gave us a ride to the trailhead...they also said our car would be much safer where we parked because their house was just beyond the parking lot.

This is the lovely Kay Lynn standing on the trail as we look across Rainbow Basin. We had just hiked up and over the ridge that separates Rainbow Basin from Trinity Lakes. To the right of the largest tree behind her you can see some snow still left in crevices on the mountain. Just below those crevices is a small lake called Little Rainbow. To Kay Lynn's right out of the frame is Green Lake

This is Green Lake, the first lake on the Rainbow Basin trail. This is seen from the same spot as Kay Lynn is standing above.

This is our camp at Little Rainbow Lake. approx 4 miles from the trailhead. It was getting to be 6:00 and we had been having trouble finding a site that didn't have too many mosquitos. For some reason this site did not. God really provided. We had actually pitched our tent in the woods about a tenth of a mile from here but decided to check out the lake before making dinner. When we found this spot we picked up our tent and carried it through the woods and across to streams to this spot!

This is the view from our campsite. This is little Rainbow Lake. You can see the snow in the crevices that we saw from a distance before.

Making Oatmeal for breakfast.

Wildflowers, trees and a mountain in the distant south. This is taken from a rise about halfway between Little Rainbow and the trailhead.

Intrepid adventurer on the trail!

We are just below where the first picture of KL was taken, this time on our way back.
